Michael...

When a legend walks into the twilight, he leaves behind a legacy which lesser beings strive to deconstruct. They try to see the man through the prism of his greatness. What they see is a flawed genius with a rainbow of hues in his personality. But isn't history replete with flawed geniuses? That's what makes Michael Schumacher one of the biggest enigmas to have graced sport. That's why Formula One fans loved and hated him in equal measure. Of course for the tifosi and for myself he was GOD, who could do nothing wrong.

The final stretch
The horizon beckons,
He was the greatest
The whole world reckons.

P.S. My sincerest apologies to all who feel offended by my attempt to describe The Man with the limited vocabulary I possess. (In all probability an injustice to the Greatness that words fail to describe.)

In Search Of Forever

The storm has blown over. As I sit staring at the grey sky above the emptiness within me is overbearing. The city's skyline is like a haunting shadow of my past. Life itself seems like a picture devoid of the Creator's colours.

Is PAIN the only TRUTH? In the distance I can hear the faint strains of melancholy singing –

“My red rose has turned to white,

How must I live?
How must I fight?

From these eyes you take the light,
How must I see?
How must I write?”

Was it Fate? Destiny? Or was it just me – besotted by Love that never was …
The incessant ringing of the telephone interrupts my thoughts. With trembling hands I reach for the receiver. Why am I afraid? Afraid to hear the voice of the one I love? Or afraid to know that it shall never be her again…
