Trip

Raucous smoke rings swirling above,

With distal eyes staring bleak
Languid whispers fill the little room
And ash adorns the tapestries.

The vermin smell of tobacco leaves
So sweet to our arcane senses,
Feral images abet the soulful night
And the city is fast asleep.

Halcyon liquor in gilded glasses
To drown our sorrows tonight
We are rebels in a forgotten war
And solace is hard to find.

The warm glow of dying embers,
Spectral shadows in calypso trance
Deep-beat music hits the teakwood walls
And eternity is forever ours.

Flight

A simple thought, of things far away
A death wish fraught through night and day
The beauty I seek, a lapse of reason
O' would you forgive a night of treason?
Take my hand and together we fly,
A phantom spirit over rivers run dry
And dawn comes upon us in crimson might,
A frozen end to a sinful flight.
